Facebook Messenger Imitates WhatsApp, Brings End To End Encryption On Conversations

Facebook has started rolling out secret conversation features which is known as end-to-end encryption on Messenger just as whatsapp have it. I saw it just last night when i was chatting with someone.

In July this year Facebook announced it is working on the feature and right now, it is already live and available. Although all your messages are not encrypted at default (as on WhatsApp) but you have to manually select which messages or to enscript before it will be activated.

This new Messenger feature will help “support conversations about sensitive topics.” The Facebook newsroom announcement read,
“We’ve heard from you that there are times when you want additional safeguards — perhaps when discussing private information like an illness or a health issue with trusted friends and family, or sending financial information to an accountant. To enable you to do this we are starting to test the ability to create one-to-one secret conversations in Messenger that will be end-to-end encrypted and which can only be read on one device of the person you’re communicating with.”

   

HOW CAN I USE FACEBOOK MESSENGER SECRET CONVERSATION (ENCRYPTION)
To start a secret conversation, follow below steps
✔ While on messenger, tap on a friend’s name (you want to chat secretly with)
✔ And just below the Audio, Video call option, you should see the Secret Conversation if the update has rolled out to you.
✔ Now tap on Secret Conversation
✔ At this point you can start an end-to-end encrypted chatting session

Interestingly, you can also set a timer to automatically delete the messages at a specified time.

To give your conversation more protection, Facebook made it in such a way that your secret chats won't be accessible in any other device. For instance, you started a secret conversation with someone via your laptop and you want to continue the same chat on your smartphone, it won't be possible.

1. While the app is opened, tap on Video Call.

2. Choose the person you'd like to call from your contacts or type in the number you'd like to reach.

4. Duo will call your contact, making your video visible with Knock Knock feature.

5. To end or drop your call, simply tap the red phone button in the bottom center of your screen.

Initially when i saw this, i actually thought the company was playing fool on us but then, i remembered we are not in April but in September so it's real. Meet the world's first ever phone to come with whooping 12GB or RAM and unprecedented 1TB (Terabyte) of storage space. Amazing isn't it? Relax am coming.

This Smartphone is currently turning the tech and mobile phone industry upside down. Imagine coming out at a time when Apple and Samsung boasted of having the best Smartphones in the world currently; iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 7. It's a serious bad market for them as this 12GB RAM phone beat them down specs-wise completely.

Android One phones has started receiving OTA update for latest Android 7 Nougat OS from Google. One of the first devices to get the update is the Cherry Mobile G1 which previously run on android one.

The software update started rolling out just a day after the release of official Nexus factory image by Google just as it happened when Android 6 updates rolled out.
   


So all those that are currently using Smartphone on Android one OS should be expecting the update from henceforth on your device. Have you ever wondered how well your country is doing in the ICT world? Is your country among the top inclined in the ICT community when compared with other? A recent visit of Mark Zuckerberg to Africa, Nigeria and Kenya particularly has spurred me to make some research about how well our country is performing in the field.

 

Well, i wasn't disappointed as Nigeria was found in the list of top 50 countries with best developers and programmers. Like Zuckerberg would say, "the energy here is amazing". In fact, Nigeria performed good in all the categories of rank. 

The rank was published by a California-based firm known as HackerRank and the study shows which countries have the best developers. A little introduction of HackerRank shows its a free coding practice website that allows developers to showcase their coding skills by solving challenges.

 It would interest you to note that Nigeria made the list ranking 48 in the table. Other African countries that made the list include Egypt(42) and South Africa (43). But surprisingly, United States (28) of America and even United Kingdom didn't perform as expected. China, being what they are, still tops. In fact, the country is toping in virtually every good thing in all spheres of like at the moment. So why are we still looking down on them? 

The report also highlighted which countries produce the best developers in a particular skill area.

Again, from the chart above, Nigeria did quite well in one skill area – Ruby.

However, the next insight from the report which might now augur well with many Nigerians is the report highlighting which countries are more likely than the rest to take a test in a skill set. As seen from the chart, Nigeria would “unusually likely” participate in Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, and functional programming.

While we celebrate Nigeria's inclusion in the rank, we won't forget the good strides of China. The country is just an inspiration for others as they are setting the pace in virtually everything when it comes to technology.

INSTALLING VIA NORMAL APK METHOD

This is the most simplest method but doesn't give perfect results although i have a fix for that. Go to your phone settings and enable installation from unknown source. After that, download the Apk file from the link above and click to install

NOTE 

The bug with the apk method is that Nexus launcher will crash anytime you try to pick or change your wallpaper.

HOW TO FIX THE CRASHING BUG

To fix it, you have to also download Wallpaper Picker. Just download from the link above as well and Install both apks and the bug will be a past tense.
